01:46 pm - Fashion Advice.. Hey All,
Well I have exciting news! I got my first teaching job!! It is only a half semester contract but whatever, I will take it! That being said I need some fashion advice. Of course I have to be a professional dresser, but I want to be able to maintain some of my own flair without being dorky or looking like I am trying too hard. So, keep in mind that I have a tattoo of a pin up girl that is topless on my right shoulder so I will always wear 3/4 length sleeve shirts or a cardigan while at work, and I have rather large tattoo on each calf so I dont wear skirts or dresses unless I can wear them with knee length boots or dark, dark tights (which its still summer weather here so I wont be doing that yet) so I wear cropped pants or pants. Also, money is an issue. I am broke as a joke but my mom did give me some money for school shopping (I know I am 14 all over again!) So tell me, those of you out there that dress up for work or that have seen some good websites..Give me some ideas...(Jessica, I really hope to hear from you because I think you are super stylish!)
Thanks so much..
Love, Stacy
ps...I am a plus size girl... Current Mood: bouncy

awesome! is it just in the fall? what grade/subject area? i am still thinking about get my teacher certification, i am very interested in how the job pans out for you.
i dont have many suggestions for clothing, i would just look for a lot of basic bottoms you can mix and match with anything and more fun blouses and cardigans. i have surprsingly gotten a LOT of fun printed cardigans from target in the past.

It is just for the fall right now, the teacher I am taking over for had a heart attack last year and he has the option to come back after christmas. He is on the transplant list so the principal really isnt sure which way it will go, so if I do well I might get a contract for the spring semester if he decides not to come back. It is 7th grade History. Target has been good to me in the past, I might start there, I saw some really cute flats on Torrid.com that have small skulls on them and I thought that I might get those I would still be able to keep my flair but they were so small that they werent "gawdy" if you know what I mean. I think accessories might be the key to keeping my style cute necklaces and stuff but still dressing professional..I dont know..
For in person shopping, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross and Burlington Coat Factory are good choices.

I really hope so, I would love that!
I think 90% of my work wardrobe is from Target. Their clothes are cheap, comfy, accommodate many body types and they don't wrinkle. Lerner New York has good sales sometimes too, but you might have to rummage a bit to find the good stuff.

Yea Target seems to be the place to go, so I think I will start there. I like the Issac Mizrahi stuff, so I think I will check out that stuff first. The no wrinkle is def. a draw..
Thanks
S
Congrats on the job...woohoo!!!! I am a big fan of target...I also like the george collection at walmart...Umm if you go to lane bryant when they have sales you can sometimes find some cool stuff. If you have a deb or dots in your area, they can have cute clothes pretty cheap....
P.S. I am a plus size girl too, haha

Yea I only shop the clearance at Lane Bryant everything else is too damn expensive. The only thing I dont like about them is they have too many loud prints, I dont want to announce that I am a big girl!! haha! But I have found some good button up shirts there a few times. I havent checked walmart so I will look into that. I dont have a deb or dots but I know that you have talked of those stores in the past, do they have websites?
Love, cousin
i'm so terrible with this stuff because i've been working at a place that lets me wear jeans for three years!
Old Navy's plus size stuff is really nice, especially their dressier stuff. i buy most of my staples from Old Navy and Target, mostly because i refuse to wear anything polyester, and they have lots of nice cotton things.
Do you have Kohl's out there? They have awesome sales, and I always find stuff there, too.

Congrats on the job! I wish I could offer some advice on the fashion part of your entry but as everyone knows, Im a far from a fashionista, Infact Im utterly and hopless lost 99 percent of the time hehe |
